Projecting Videos

One of the other fancy features of openlp.org is the ability to play videos. This is just as simple as showing presentations, the only proviso in this particular case is that you have the correct video codecs installed.

Note: If you don't have video codecs installed, or are not sure which ones you have installed, the openlp.org team recommends downloading and installing the XP Codec Pack. This seems to be the most comprehensive set of codecs, and with a decent reputation attached to it.

  1. We first need to load the video into openlp.org. Do this by going to the Video tab in the media manager, clicking on the Load button, finding your video, and clicking the open button.
  2. Next we need to bring the video into the order of service. This is once again a simple job of dragging the video from the media manager and dropping it into the order of service.
  3. Simply double-click the video in the order of service, and it will start playing. You will see a set of play controls at the bottom of the live control panel, which can be used to control the playback of the video.
  4. If you want to remove the video from the list (for instance, if you deleted the video file on your hard drive), then right click on the video you want to remove, and click the Delete option.
