1.0 Program Exit Problem
Error box with "failed to set data for 'VideoCount'" appears when trying to exit. Program won't close and I have to kill it from the Task Manager. Error occurs even if I try quitting right after starting the program.

Windows Vista ultimate x64
HP Pavilion dv2200CTO with 2 gigs ram
Re: 1.0 Program Exit Problem
Is your account a "user" account or an "administrator" account?
Reason being, the machines we tested openlp.org on had administrator level accounts, and I think that your account type is most probably what's causing that error.
Re: 1.0 Program Exit Problem
I have just had this same problem when upgrading a Vista machine. It's due to a permissions issue with Vista. You need to go into the registry and set the permissions of the following key to Full Control from Read Only
\HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\openlp.org
Re: 1.0 Program Exit Problem
We will remedy this and put it in the next bug-fix release.

Re: 1.0 Program Exit Problem
As this seems to be a good place to grab the attention of those running under Limited users...
If you're in the fortunate position of having an internet connection in your church which your projection computer is connected to, may I recommend that you turn off automatic installation of updates in the Admin account.
I found myself in a situation once where the Windows Update kicked in, told me that a reboot was necessary to install the updates and started a countdown until when it would do this automatically. As I was logged in as limited user it wouldn't let me cancel it (I was running Vista). It then took 10 minutes to shutdown whilst it installed the updates!
Fortunately this was half an hour before the service started... glad I wasn't having a last minute rush that day. (I've since disabled automatic installs, and promoted the user to Administrator!)
would you be so nice as to give more information on this registry fix? i cannot figure out how to apply it (screenshot?) thanks
The OP couldn't find a registry fix (probably because there isn't one). But the current work around is:
- Press and hold the SHIFT key
- Right-click on the openlp.org icon
- Select RUN AS
- Login as the administrator
This eliminates the exit error as that particular instance of openlp will run as with administrative privileges. Running programs under limited accounts is a good idea, especially at churches with laptops that get passed around and used randomly.Re: 1.0 Program Exit Problem
We've tried to write openlp.org so that it doesn't require administrator access for day-to-day running. I had thought that this particular registry key would not need access, but it seems it does on Vista.
As both Derek and I use XP, and our accounts are admin accounts (naturally, you can't develop on a limited account), we never ran into this problem.

Exactly that is our problem, we cannot give the admin-password to every tech-guy. I hope someone would explain the above mentioned reg fix to me since there is no such key on our computer and i cannot figure out how to set it correctly.

Re: 1.0 Program Exit Problem
I'm guessing a bit here, but from what Derek said I'd say:
1. Login as administrator (this is just to apply the fix).
2. Run openlp.org and exit. This will hopefully create the relevent registry item which you say is missing.
3. Start menu. Run. Enter regedit.
4. At the top should be My Computer. Underneath select HKEY_USERS -> .DEFAULT (note the leading dot) -> Software.
5. Right click on openlp.org and select Permissions. Add the relevant users with Full Control.
Normal warnings about editing the registry apply. Do so at your own risk.
Re: 1.0 Program Exit Problem
Thank you! You really made my day. ;)
I could get it to work today so I could use openLP properly for the first time since we got Vista. Unfortunately our beamer-lamp died today during the service :(
