openlp quits on Vista Home Premium

I just installed openlp.org onto my vista laptop Compaq Presario (C500). As soon as I start openlp, the splash screen comes up and then the "openlp.exe has stopped working" dialog box comes up. The program quits every time I open the program. I have installed the d3drm.dll from the link on your site, which did not fix the issue. As for protection, I am using my (firewall: Windows Vista), for my (antivirus: AVG 1.5) for my (antiSpyware: SpywareGuard, SpywareBlaster, and Spybot Search and Destroy 1.5) from the log file WERD9B4.tmp.appcompat:

Re: openlp quits on Vista Home Premium

Firstly, I have to say that unfortunately since neither Raoul or myself have Vista, openlp.org has not been tested by us and we cannot try and reproduce bugs. I do know however that various people are running it successfully with Vista.

Firstly, and I guess most importantly, where did you put the d3drm.dll file.  It should be in the windows/system32 directory.  If you installed RC5, this should have been done, but check anyway.

Secondly, does openlp.org have rights to create registry entries? I know Vista is really sticky about app rights etc.

Lastly, the error message doesn't really help us much.  Raoul posted a link where you could disable Windows error reporting, but I don't know if it's valid for Vista. It's http://pcsupport.about.com/od/windowsxp/ht/disableerror.htm

Re: openlp quits on Vista Home Premium

The d3drm.dll file was placed in the correct folder. I also copied it into the openlp folder just to make sure that the program wasn't looking for it there. Vista doesn't have the check box for disabling error reporting. After restarting my system the program works flawlessly. Here are the steps that I did to make it work... ______________ Install Openlp download and install the d3drm.dll file into the Windows\System32 folder. Restart the computer start openlp _______________ Maybe this will help others.

Re: openlp quits on Vista Home Premium

Great.  If you installed RC5, the d3drm.dll should have been installed into the Windows\System32 folder.  Can you confirm if it was or wasn't, it should only have been done for the Vista OS and  was included from RC5? Thanks.

Re: openlp quits on Vista Home Premium

D3drm.dll was installed in the system32 folder.
