Cairo graphics library

Hey,

I know everyone is focused on getting openlp 1.0 out the door, but with the 1.0 release so close I was just pondering about the future of openlp and having been playing with the python bindings for the Cairo graphics rendering library (http://cairographics.org/) recently, was wondering if Cairo might be useful for openlp's visuals support. Cairo graphics is already used by a number of open source projects including GNOME on Linux and is cross platform, and allows fairly complex graphics/effects fairly easily. I was just wondering if down the line if it might be worth looking at using it in openlp as it could help lay some of the foundations for a cross platform version of openlp, which would be nice.

Re: Cairo graphics library

I started writing a reply to your topic, but then it started getting a bit long, and I decided to rather post a blog entry. It might not answer your question 100%, but hopefully it will give you a better idea of what's in the pipeline.
