Looking for help... as usual

I seem to have found myself the only one left on the openlp.org "team." All the folks who have been involved in openlp.org have had to bow out due to external commitments. In plain english (and through no fault of their own) they are too busy to help out.

So, I'm left asking for assistance again. If you're interested in helping out with openlp.org (not just development - things like support, etc), I'd really appreciate your help. You don't need to be a rocket scientist or a rock star, you just need a couple of free hours every week to lend a hand.

Things have been quiet here recently. About 2 weeks ago my computer's motherboard gave in, and I was without a computer for a couple of days while I went about ordering a new one. My computer was 5 years old, which meant that I couldn't just replace the motherboard, I had to replace EVERYTHING.

Otherwise, things are plodding on. I'm busy with a lot of behind-the-scenes work at the moment, which means that there's nothing new, just old stuff made better, but nothing really visible. This work is very necessary though. It builds the base for future features, for everything we want to accomplish with version 1.2. It also means fewer bugs in the system, and more reliable performance, something I'm sure everyone would appreciate.

That's all for now!

Re: Looking for help... as usual

How Can I help? Im not a programmer. But I'm known as a PC Savy" by my church. I live in NY. I do have a couple of hours a week to help in anything.

Re: Looking for help... as usual

hey raoul, as I said before I'm here too, but I'll be pretty busy until the 6th of October. I'll check the forums from time to time at work. In the meantime I will work trough my german translation that I made so far - there were several requests to change labels. if I can help you with anything, like reproducing a bug or so, do not hesitate to contact me (email, pm), i'll try to find some time or get a tech assistant from church do some investigation. be blessed, paddy

Re: Looking for help... as usual

I'd love to try and help, I'm just extremely busy right now. Don't do any coding other than some PHP. I work on computers for a living so maybe I can be of help when I get some time (possibly november, but it's my busy season right now)

Re: Looking for help... as usual

I would love to help! I write perl, c, and c++. However, I am not very strong in c or c++. Please use me as you see fit i have 4 steady hours available a week with more depending on the week.

Re: Looking for help... as usual

I'd like to help though i'm not familiar with the source code at all. I'm a software developer. I used to code in [visual] c++ until a year ago when i switched to web development. I know a bit of python and coded a little bit in wxPython 2 years ago. (And I really want to see a cross-platform version soon.)

Re: Looking for help... as usual

Hi

Just found this site and the program looks great so far! I am a VB.net programmer (2005) and would not mind giving some of my time if posible (Have not been able to find out what you have done this in)

I am currently developing one on my own and may have some valuable input ;)

 Thanks Shaun

Re: Looking for help... as usual

Hi Shaun,

The current version of openlp.org is written in Delphi. However, the future version(s) is being developed in Python. If you're interested in helping out with development, please pop me a private message, and I'll get back to you.

Raoul.

Re: Looking for help... as usual

I was wondering how I could get involved. I am working on learning Python. I do some programming with ABB industrial robots. It is RAPID style language. I also have some experience in linux. By the way my name is Eddie. I so excited to here about the change in the platform. I am hoping that it will be as fast as it is in windows. OpenSong's linux version never really worked.
